NIRCA Cross Country National Championships
NIRCA Cross Country National Championships
November 11, 2017
Hosted by NIRCA

Race Information

Course Location:
Forest Akers East Golf Course
2231 S. Harrison Rd.
East Lansing, MI

Terrain: Both the Men’s 8k and Women’s 6k take off on a long fairway start. After 600 meters, the course takes a sharp left turn and begins on the standard loop, which is 2 miles long and follows the perimeter of the golf course.

After passing through 2 miles near the start line, the women follow an alternate loop while the men run the first loop once again. Both courses culminate in a final 1000 meter stretch which curves back around to finish uphill.

The course is wide at all points and runs entirely on grass with a few golf cart path crossings. The rolling slopes of the fairways are deceptive, which, combined with the various turns, make for tactical racing. If weather conditions are favorable, times have the potential to be very fast. However, if the November winds whip hard out of the west as they have been known to, you’ll find scant cover from the elements.

Spikes can be worn at the runner's discretion.
