NIRCA is proud to announce a partnership with the Petersburg Half Marathon in historic Petersburg, VA to produce the 2024 NIRCA Spring Half Marathon National Championship. The race is going to be super fun to anyone who loves American history, but the part everyone will find unique is that it is the only running event that features live Revolutionary & Civil War Battle Re-Enactments in the race.

 

NIRCA Half Marathon Nats runners will be running to the sounds of muskets and cannons being fired by soldier actors on the course. The course is a big loop that through the historic Petersburg National Battlefield Park, along with the historic Civil era buildings of Old Town Petersburg.

 

What is the historical significance of Petersburg VA?

It is the site of one of the Siege of Petersburg, a major loss that led to the downfall of the General Robert E Lee & the Confederate army near the end of the Civill War.
