In order to be eligible for NIRCA Championships events, runners must have competed in one NIRCA Qualifying event during the season. Events that meet the following guidelines can be sanctioned by NIRCA as Qualifying events for the season:
NIRCA races must be affiliated with the school or club hosting the event, eg. the Binghamton Open or Princeton Running Club Invitational.
NIRCA supports, sanctions and promotes member clubs' endeavors into hosting and implementing events for other NIRCA clubs. Events organized or overseen by other associations are not eligible to be NIRCA Qualifying. Club implemented races that have sponsorships fall into this category and are not eligible to be Qualifying races. All events are eligible for promotion by member clubs. Events organised by non-members can be promoted for a fee.
All race participants in NIRCA sanctioned events must be members of NIRCA clubs and must conform with any requirements set by the hosting club's university (eg. minimum age, etc).
Event insurance is required. Some sport club departments can help you secure insurance through the university/college, or it can be obtained through a third party.
For more than ten years, NIRCA has hosted professional, high quality events that are valuable to attendees, hosts and communities alike. Hosting a Qualifying event for NIRCA clubs comes with the continued expectation of quality and professionalism. This does not mean your event must have expensive refereeing, top of the line timing systems and so on, but it must be conducted in a safe, inclusive and professional manner in line with the expectations of a NIRCA-hosted event.
Event results must be submitted electronically to NIRCA within 48 hours of the event.
