Drug Uses
Atarax is used for relief of anxiety and tension motivated by psychoneurosis and organic disease states in which anxiety is manifested. It may be used for other situations as determined by your physician.
How Taken
Atarax comes in pills to take in orally. The usual daily dose for adults is 50–100 mg. Children over 6 years should take Atarax 50–100mg every day in divided doses. Daily dosage for children under 6 years of age is 50mg divided into several doses.
More Information
Atarax may cause dizziness. These effects can worsen if Atarax is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Atarax with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you respond to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your physician. Atarax should be used only by the patient for whom it has been recommended. Do not take less or more or take it more often than directed by your physician.
