Get Involved: Now Forming the NIRCA Diversity & Inclusion Committee!

In June 2020, NIRCA launched a Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) project team comprised of NIRCA student athletes and staff members. A new involvement opportunity for current and former NIRCA athletes has been created from this project.
After months of group efforts, the project team developed NIRCA mission and vision statements, created D&I content, and established some ongoing initiatives we believe will make our organization and teams more inclusive and welcoming. One of those ongoing initiatives beginning January 20201 will be a D&I Committee.
Now, we're looking for some committed club running athletes to be a part of the first-ever NIRCA D&I committee as members to bring these ideas to life while helping to hold NIRCA accountable to its D&I goals. There are a variety of roles and responsibilities for committee members. NOTE: This is a volunteer position.
Who Can Apply/Who Are We Looking For?
Any current or former NIRCA club member is welcome to apply. We are hoping to recruit a diverse group of individuals with different backgrounds and experiences. Additionally, we would like to have at least one committee member from each region (Pacific, Heartland, Great Plains, Great Lakes, Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast) and at least one Alumni member to better represent NIRCA’s student body.
Participation in the committee will be limited to a handful of individuals for the 2021 year, and there will be ongoing opportunities for new members to join the committee in future years.
Position Description:
* Collaborate with fellow committee members to develop D&I resources and educational opportunities for NIRCA clubs
* Create and analyze an annual/bi-annual survey for NIRCA club members assessing NIRCA’s D&I progress
* Attend monthly D&I committee meetings (virtually) to address ongoing projects, any reported issues, committee housekeeping, etc.
* Attend NIRCA staff meetings (virtually) on a quarterly basis to report on the status of D&I projects and initiatives
Time Commitment: Approx. 1 academic year, 1-4 hours a month depending on scope of projects.
