
Bloomington, Indiana to host 2010 NIRCA

January 19, 2010 – The National Intercollegiate Running Club Association announced Saturday that the site for the 2010 NIRCA Cross Country National Championship will be held in Bloomington, Indiana on November 13, 2010.
Several cities across the country were considered for the host site. Bloomington is one hour southwest of Indianapolis, IN with easy, affordable access by plane and is located near the intersection of major interstate highways. The Indiana University Run Club is located in Bloomington, with thirteen clubs within a 5-hour drive.
The 2010 Championship Meet will be held on the Indiana University Cross Country Course, which has hosted four NCAA Cross Country Championships and five Big Ten Championship meets. This site is ideal for handling a large number of race participants, and has been praised as a very spectator-friendly course. Runners will have the opportunity to experience the challenging 6k (women) and 8k (men) courses that feature rolling hills, smooth curves, and short straights.
NIRCA thanks the Bloomington Convention and Visitors Bureau and Indiana University Athletics for their partnership in bringing the event to Bloomington. The event offers the local community an Open/Alumni 5k race and opportunities to support the event and runners as race day and weekend volunteers.
